Cornerstone

Cornerstone in Midtown
Tied for #12 place out of 18.  This place was ok. We appreciated that the brunch went into the afternoon and therefore a great place if no one can wake up before Noon.  The place was not packed so a big party can easily come in after Noon.  However, the food (especially compared to all the other places we have tried) was a basic "diner" style fare.

Reservations
Reservations can be made for 6 or more.  But as I mentioned above, after noon reservations are not needed.

Other Bottomless Drinks
None.

Outdoor Seating
Yes, but limited.

Food Issues
None.  However the food was really basic and the hollandaise (i asked for on the side to try it) tasted like chicken soup...ick.

Food Variety
rated 5 out of 10.  Diner fare with some mildly interesting specials. Lunch was served too.

Availability of Car Parking
rated 8 out of 10.  Parking is pretty easy in this area.

Mimosa kept full
rated 10 out of 10.  Each glass came with its own pitcher of mimosas.  Leads to one of our favorite saying/circumstances, if your glass is empty it is your own fault! ;)

Atmosphere
rated 7 out of 10.

Golden Bear

Golden Bear in Midtown
Rated #12 out of 18.  We loved this place, but as our scores stack up...the places that don't allow reservations have a hard time competing.

Reservations
No reservations.:(  A couple of us when early so we can sit and take over tables as they became available.  Once we did show up they did make an effort to keep two tables (next to each other) vacant until we all had seats.

Other Bottomless Drinks
None.

Outdoor Seating
Yes, nice patio on K Street.

Food Issues
None.

Food Variety
rated 7 out of 10.  The food was very filling, great variety with some creative touches. The breakfast nachos (see picture above) were quite yummy.

Availability of Car Parking
rated 7 out of 10.  K Street can be a challenge but there usually is a spot within two blocks on either side.

Mimosa kept full
rated 8 out of 10.

Atmosphere
rated 8 out of 10.

Capitol Dime - gave it another try

Capitol Dime (2nd Try) located in the Downtown

As of this post ranked #7 (tied) out of 19. Total Score 12.1(You can see our original review here, Rank #12 with a score of 8.3)

With Capitol Dime under new management (by the manager of our top rated place Broderick's), we decided to give Capitol Dime another try.  The menu was revamped (small - which we hope will expand a bit over time) and good service - we were glad we did!

Reservations
Reservations can be made but you must have a minimum of 8 people.

Other Bottomless Drinks
None.

Outdoor Seating
Yes. It was under construction but we know how fabulous it is from a past visit.

Food Issues
The service slowed a bit when they got busier but still good service.

Food Variety
rated 7 out of 10.  The menu was rather small. We hope it gets expanded over time.  Although not a specific criteria, the food was very good and all of us left fully satisfied.  At other restaurants, like Strings, we felt hungry even after a full meal.

Availability of Car Parking
rated 5 out of 10.  The place is hard to find and parking is a block or two away.

Mimosa kept full
rated 9 out of 10.  The mimosa mix was inconsistent, but we kept our own glasses full with the carafes.

Atmosphere
rated 9 out of 10. Love the rustic atmosphere with the pickled veggies everywhere (many of our regulars do this as a hobby)...and love the outdoor seating too.

Availability of Car Parking
rated 6 out of 10.  The place is hard to find and parking is a block or two away.

Mimosa kept full
rated 6 out of 10.  Slow service.  Enjoyed the mix of mostly orange juice with some champagne.

Atmosphere
rated 8 out of 10. Unique outdoor atmosphere that felt like we were at a resort or a college campus dorm.

Other Bottomless Drinks
None.

Outdoor Seating

Food Issues
Some food was not hot and some of the baked items were dry.

Food Variety
rated 2 out of 10.  The menu was the smallest we have seen.  It is a new place so hopefully the selection will expand.

rated 5 out of 10.  The streets around the location are mostly metered but spots can be found a few blocks away.

Capitol Dime

Although it was the best patio, the lack of service was the worse.  We heard that service and food consitancy issues have plagued this place in recent months, but we still wanted to give them a shot. We think this is a tell tale sign that this restaurant may not be around for long.  We may go back (it is ranked middle of the pack) on days we care more about drinking that when we get our food...and that would be only if our #1 rated Devere's (just a block away) is too busy.

One "funny" thing was that one of our tomatoes still had the sticker on it.  I couldn't see if it had the numbers that would confirm that the restaurant is truly "farm to fork" using organic vegetables. They had already lost 10 points for service so we deducted an additional 5 for the sticker.

Capitol Dime
located in the Downtown

As of this post ranked #12 of 16. Total Score 9.4

Reservations
Reservations could be made by phone, including for the beautiful roof area.

Other Bottomless Drinks
None.

Outdoor Seating
Quite nice, one of the best we have seen. It is a roof/mezzanine area in between the condos.  Great planted trees and adequate umbrellas to get some shade.

Food Issues
It took 20 minutes for the staff to figure out who was doing what: water, drinks, and food order.  There was a very obvious sense that the staff were inexperienced and/or organization/management.  We felt bad for the servers who seemed very used to apologizing for things.  It was 1 hour (since sitting down) until we got the appetizers and 20 minutes later we got our food....dishes came very slowly with one 2 of our party waiting 5+ minutes for their plates.  At this point we were all rather drunk (lots of mimosas and low food) so we didnt care too much.

Food Variety
rated 5 out of 10.  The menu was even smaller than Pour House but had a nice variety and some homemade items.

Availability of Car Parking
rated 5 out of 10.  The streets around the location are mostly metered and in the busy downtown area.

Mimosa kept full
rated 9 out of 10.  The one thing the staff excelled at is giving us carafes to ensure our mimosas we already full. Although we found it quite funny that at exactly 2pm they "ran out of champagne."  No mimosa brunch should run out unless...they actually cut of drinks at a certain time...

Atmosphere
rated 10 out of 10. The patio was just lovely on a spring day.

Next spot...Capitol Dime

The next waypoint on our quest is Capitol Dime.  Another "Farm to Fork" restaurant in the downtown area.
Check out the Brunch Menu and the pictures on their website look yummy.

Morgan's Bar & Grill

The casual Morgan's Bar and grill landed on the low end of our list - compared to all the great bottomless mimosa places in town - but with the simple quality brunch and lunch menus and it being the closest to this yuppies house in Oak Park, it is still on our list of places we would like to go again. Great no fuss nearby joint.

located in the Alhambra Triangle (between East Sacramento and Oak Park)

As of this post ranked #13 of 15. Total Score 6.9

Reservations
Although we usually give negative points for places that dont allow reservations, we doubted you would never really need reservations, so no points lost or gained.

Other Bottomless Drinks
None.  Although their Bloody Mary was pretty good with the piece of thick cut bacon as a stir stick.

Outdoor Seating
None.

Food Issues
Some of the dishes were cold :(.

Food Variety
rated 5 out of 10.  The menu was even smaller than Pour House but had a nice variety and some homemade items.

Availability of Car Parking
rated 6 out of 10.  The streets around the location has parking restrictions so we had to move cars every hour.  If you go hear use their bike rack.

Mimosa kept full
rated 7 out of 10.  It was up to you to go to the bar to get it but that meant less overall waiting.  However none of us thought to ask for water too, so a couple of us were not feeling very good the next day.

Atmosphere
rated 8 out of 10. It was a comfortable bar setting. From the outside it almost looks like a place you couldn't enter as a stranger but once inside it was very inviting.

Next...Morgan's

Next stop on our quest will be Morgan's Bar and Grill in the Alhambra Triangle area of East Sacramento.  Our first pool hall with bottomless mimosas, specializing in "bar food"....stay tuned to see how they do.

Pour House

Pour House makes a poor impression landing at the bottom of our list.

located in Midtown

As of this post ranked #14 of 14. Total Score 4.8

Reservations
This place lost points before we got there.  As a large group we give negative points when reservations cannot be made.

Other Bottomless Drinks
None.  Although their Bloody Mary was pretty good.

Outdoor Seating
No - there is some but very limited in the back.  Not very appealing next to the train tracks.

Food Issues
Most dishes included biscuits and potatoes both were cold/room temp.  Cold food is not very appetizing especially biscuits where part of the appeal is the buttery goodness - butter is not as good cold.  The Benedict were uniquely on biscuits but when cold the whole thing seemed dry and unappealing.  One of our group sent his Biscuits and Gravy back 2x in order to get warmer Biscuits.  The rest of us suffered through it because if it is that widespread its just not worth it to cause a fuss.  These food issues added more negative points.

Food Variety
rated 4 out of 10.  The brunch menu was small with 80% Benedict's and Omelets.

Availability of Car Parking
rated 7 out of 10.  The streets around the location have spots with no parking restrictions and with our 5+ cars we had no trouble parking within a block.

Mimosa kept full
rated 7 out of 10.  Services was good too.

Atmosphere
rated 7 out of 10. It was a bit noisy and overall the atmosphere of having to have a large group at multiple tables isn't great.  But overall we did enjoy the overall rustic vintage vibe.

Next...Pour House

The next brunch we will try in the Pour House.  Most of the remaining brunch places do not allow reservations which is very annoying for a group of 10...so this one starts with minus points.  Lets see how they stack up.

This is our first brunch for 2014.  We took January off but we have spots planned for each month this year.
